AA Net Zero
Introduction
The AA Net Zero plan sets out how we will reduce the emission of greenhouse gases generated by business activities.
Inspired by the pledge of many countries and multi-national organizations, as well as our own personal beliefs, we are targeting net zero to help tackle the global climate emergency. Our target is to achieve net zero by 2030 by focusing on reducing and avoid, remove, and offset where necessary.
What is net-zero?
Net-zero is the term used to describe the achievement of balance between the carbon emitted into the environment, and the carbon removed from the environment. This balance can be achieved through one of the following:
- Reduce and Avoid emissions through efficiency savings
- Replace with alternative lower carbon solutions
- Remove emissions through sequestration
- Offset residual emissions through responsible and approved carbon offsets
Targeting 2030
By 2030 we aim to:
- Reduce business travel by replacing with alternative ways to meet our clients, partners, and suppliers
- Promote active travel to our employees, such as walking or cycling to work
- Give preference to shared travel options, such as public transport over ICE vehicles
- Utilise low emission vehicles which leverage alternative fuels or are electrified to cut carbon emissions and air pollution
- Offset residual emissions through reforestation in the UK which provides a vital carbon sink while restoring habitats and reducing flood risk
We are committed to achieving and operating at Net Zero, aligned to the United Nations Paris Agreement.
